Considering this we established the Karuna Trust Scholarship Fund in 2003 to lend a helping hand to the most deserving children to get a better education. We started our scholarship programme in 2004 and to this day we have been able to sponsor 580 students coming from underprivileged families. We believe in sameness, although Karuna Trust is a Buddhist charity organization, religion and ethnicity had not been matters of consideration in selecting children. The children are supported from the interest that is generated from the scholarship fund. The reduction of interest rates by the banks have affected the fund accumulation, hence in order to collect some supplementary funds for this worthy project we decided to market a few new year cards. As we will be getting these cards printed free of charge, a considerable amount of the turnover will be credited to the scholarship fund.
