The majority of Sri Lankan rural population is poor. We Karuna Trust primarily focus on the children and youth of these rural areas, whose future has been deprived due to poverty. By giving to Karuna Trust you can help these deprived ones to take the first steps of their lives forward to a greater dignity and freedom.

In 2004 we started a scholarships programe to help the needy rural students, who have got admission to national schools in the cities. These scholarships will continue from year six up to Advance Level (12th year). Also we give financial assistance to undergraduates who are from deprived families in rural areas. There are forty one local and foreign donors who support above projects.

Regular giving is the best because it enables us to plane ahead and fund long term projects. Just US$ 10.00 per month could support the hostel fees of a student for a month, while US$ 1500.00 could fund to build a house for a family without any shelter.
