Computer lab for Thelijjavila Dhamma school, August 2012

Computer Lab for Thelijjavila Dhamma School

Thelijjawila Samarasingharamaya is a small temple without many facilities in Matara District. Though it is a small temple the Venerable Bhikkhus at the temple are doing a tremendous service to the area.

The Dhamma school at this temple is very popular and there are 1700 students. The existing hall in this temple can accommodate only three classrooms. The rest of the classes are conducted in outdoor and in rainy days there is no way of conducting the classes. With all these difficulties this school has come to the 1st place in last year in the Southern Province.

We have opened a library in 2007, spending LKR 250,000 at this School. In August 2012, Karuna Trust donated a brand new computer lab to this school at a cost of LKR 150,000. Free computer classes will be conducted to needy children in here. Calcey Technologies is sponsoring the future expenses including the internet bills of the center.

This Dhamma school has already been selected for the recently launched “Thurunu Saviya” leadership training program, where 30 selected students from this center will be given special training in various areas to develop their skills and values.

Last month we have donated a computer center to this Dharma school,
