Following the suspension of the operations of Karuna Community Eye Center at Maharagama, the board of trustees chaired by Mr.Mahinda Karunaratna decided to donate all eye care equipment used by the center to selected Government run Rural Hospitals on a need basis where such equipment were not available.

Thus it was decided to donate the following equipment which were owned by Karuna Trust valued over SLRs. 6.0 million.

  1. Topcon Slit lamp with table
  2. Brand new Non Contact Tonometer with table
  3. Welch Allyn Ophthalmoscope
  4. 90 D Volk Lens
  5. Auto Reflector with table (Made in Japan)
  6. Slit Lamp (Takagic) with table
  7. Brand new ECG machine with the bed
  8. Auto reflector (China)
  9. Trial cases – 4 Nos
  10. Trial frames – 4 Nos
  11. Vision boxes – 3 Nos
  12. Furniture

At a simple ceremony organized by Karuna Trust the following equipment were donated to Kahawaththa Hospital on 30th June 2020.

  1. Non-contact Tono Meter to the Base Hospital, Kahawatte in the Ratnapura District.
  2. A trial Case with a trial frame to the Rural Hospital, Kolonne.

To mark this occasion we also donated eye glasses to 50 low income people suffering from low vision sight impairment.
